"Origins"
$150
This is a plate
I reworked after a workshop with equine artist Sam Savitt. I first etched this
plate in acid and then went back and dry-pointed (basically scratched directly
into the copper plate) to emphasize the horse. To me "Origins" represents
the original horse, perhaps an Andalusian, which is one of the foundation breeds
of most modern breeds.
"Origins" is available in a small edition (15 original prints) in
various ink colors, including raw sienna. The one pictured here is printed with
black ink. It measures approximately 12 X 9 inches (unmatted) and is shipped
matted to the size of 17.5 X 15.5 inches. Etching with Dry Point 1998.

"Dressage Dreams"
$225
"Dressage Dreams" was created using 'white ground', which is a white pasty substance brushed onto a copper plate to make the image look more painterly. I also utilized aqua-tint and dry point to get the very dark areas. I am a dressage-enthusiast and placed this rider on a horse with a more 'baroque' type physique. After applying the many substances to this plate, it took on a dream-like appearance and hence, the title.
Available in a very limited edition (probably less than 15 prints) due to the short run-life of drypoint. It is printed on buff-colored paper (I may also print part of the edition on white paper) and measures approximately 13.5 by 10 inches (unmatted). With matting this print will fit into a standard size 11 X 14 inch frame. White Ground with Dry Point 1999.
